School Time in Phoenix

School Time in Phoenix

It doesn’t seem to matter whether you have school-aged children or not, back-to-school time seems to affect most of us. The lighter traffic we enjoyed during our morning commute comes to an abrupt end. We have to be more aware than ever of young people waiting for the bus in the early morning darkness. We have to remember to slow down in school zones and be more aware of children as they dash here and there. We have to allow time for extra cars and buses on the highway. If you do have children going back to school, are a teacher or work for the school system in some capacity, your life gets more hectic than ever. There is the long list of school supplies to purchase, sports and other after school events, homework to squeeze in among all the other activities and meet the teacher nights. Then you have me, your car care provider reminding the childless, the empty nesters and those with children to get your car serviced for back-to-school. Why do I do this? Taxi Moms and Dads (and Grandparents, Too!)

Taxi Moms and Dads (and Grandparents, Too!)

Hey, Phoenix drivers, is this you? On a daily basis are you running children to pre-school, school, after school extra curricular events, and doctor/dentist/orthodontist appointments? Do your resolutions to prepare healthy meals end when after a day of dropping this child off and picking this child up finds you too tired to cook? You berate yourself as you drive through McDonalds…again but find yourself whispering a silent “thank goodness for Micky D’s?” You tell yourself you will do better on the weekends but then you start those off sitting on the bleachers at football games cheering your child on or watching your child, the cheerleader. On Saturday and Sundays can you be found sitting in lawn chairs watching your child(ren) playing soccer? If you answered yes to any of the above, you are a shuttle service. Hey…many grandparents I know are operating shuttle services too! You probably realize the gas tank is getting close to empty more frequently ... read more

Taking a Road Trip with Children

Taking a Road Trip with Children

Traveling with children for hours can be less stressful if you carefully plan ahead. At Fairway Auto Repair we feel that safety is always the main concern followed by your sanity and your children’s comfort. It is also best not to be the type of person who just wants to get there and doesn’t like to make frequent stops. Children need to stop on occasion and stretch their legs and run around to release pent up energy. Make sure you have hand sanitizer and/or baby wipes on hand, a first aid kit and any medications that are needed. Don’t forget the sunscreen is also a good idea even if you aren’t going to the beach or a pool. Sunburn can ruin a trip for everyone! Traveling with an Infant An infant should never be out of its car seat while the vehicle is in motion. If you need to feed or change the baby’s diaper you need to go to a rest stop, park or restaurant. An infant should not be in a car seat in the front seat but the rear sea ... read more

Keep your vehicle clean on the inside as well and use a conditioner if you have leather seats and don’t forget the dashboard. It gets a lot of damaging sunrays!
